As I sat with what this page should say about me, I knew I didn’t want to go the traditional route. Where I went to school. Where I’m from. The list of roles and résumés.
Instead, I’ll start with my name.
I spent most of my life not knowing what Gaudicia meant. It was a unique name passed down from my great-grandmother—one my father gave me. I’ve always loved it, even before I knew its meaning.
When I came to know the Trinity in 2004, people would often speak words of joy over me. That there was joy in me. That there was joy for me.
At the time, I didn’t fully understand that. I had happy moments, yes—friendships, relationships—but I was reserved. Guarded. Few people experienced the fullness of me.
There’s a difference, I’ve learned, between honoring the moment you’re in and hiding behind a wall. One is wisdom. The other is fear.
In 2018, a professor told me my name, Gaudicia, comes from the Latin gaudete—rejoice.
That truth landed deep.
It wasn’t until I allowed myself to show up unguarded that I began to understand what it truly means to rejoice. Not just in the easy, loud, or public ways—but in the still, surrendered ones.
I still have moments where joy feels distant. But I’ve learned that I find it again when I take up space. When I connect. When I push through fear and anxiety instead of letting them silence me.
On the other side of that resistance?
There’s growth. There’s encouragement.
And yes—there’s joy.
I created this space to help others find the courage to take up space, speak what God has placed inside them, and walk in their identity: free, loved, and alive. If you’re tired of hiding and hungry for healing—you’re not alone.
Welcome. You belong here.
